My  Yamaha CDX-660’s headphone out started to make crackling noise when I adjusted volume. Fix solution is easy and simple:

1. Remove cover, and find the volume potentiometer:

2. Carefully apply WD-40 this areas while turning the knob, and let to flow into the potentiometer:
